RADIO presenter Fifi Box has been recognised as the woman young females look up to most, while assault victim Lauren Huxley triumphed over a supermodel and a politician to be named most inspirational at a glittering awards ceremony dinner in Sydney.
Box took the top honours at the Fun, Fearless, Female awards as voted by 80,000 readers of Cosmopolitan magazine.
The awards recognise women's achievements in TV, radio, fashion, sport, music and business.
Cosmopolitan editor Bronwyn McCahon said Box was a fitting recipient.
"She really is the epitome of a fun, fearless female," McCahon said. "I think that she's very real and she's not afraid to be self-deprecating.
"It's always nice to see somebody who is so successful who can look at themselves and have a laugh and doesn't take themselves too seriously."
Box, who leaves radio at the end of the year to pursue a TV career, also clinched the radio presenter award, beating popular personalities and rivals Kate Ritchie and Jackie O.
In other categories, self confessed good girl Delta Goodrem beat edgy pop sisters The Veronicas and Ricki-Lee Coulter in the best singer section.
Sass Bide won best designer, while Jennifer Hawkins picked up the trophy for favourite TV presenter over Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Ruby Rose.
Ms Huxley was named inspirational role model for her courage in the wake of the horrific bashing attack that left her fighting for her life in 2005.
She was voted the winner over model Miranda Kerr, actress Isabel Lucas, deputy prime minister Julia Gillard and rape victim Tegan Wagner.
"Everybody who meets her or who even comes in contact with her ... or has heard a brief moment of what she's been through, I think everybody sympathises with her and thinks: 'Wow, what a strong and amazing woman you are to have gone through that and to have come back in such glory now'," McCahon said.
Olympic gold medallist swimmer Leisel Jones added another title to her growing list of accolades with the favourite sportswoman award.
Home and Away starlet Jodi Gordon claimed most popular actress.

Okay I know it's one day too late but I have been on a vacation so I couldn't write it earlier. Well I hope she had a great birthday and that she got a lot of things that she wished for. I read that she wanted this 30th birthday to be a milestone where she only is looking forward, not back on the past. She actually said: "I've had so many conversations about my milestones in the past that I'm actually sick of hearing myself talk about it, So if there's one thing I want turning 30 to be about it's looking forward." I can't wait to see what's next for Kate! |
Don't miss Merrick, Rosso and Kate's "the Panphins first social night". They are planing to kick it off 6pm on friday on the Mean Fiddler Rouse Hil. It's completely free so if you live near the station, don't forget to go there! Oh and by the way, Kate is the social director of the club!

We'll destroy you, on land or out at sea
We'll chew you up and spit you out and go down in history.
Kate will be on Australian Story next monday August 4 2008 8pm. Whatever you do, DON'T MISS IT!
She is also featured in this week's TV Week so run and buy it if you live in Australia. She tells us about her life after Home and Away and all the rumours that circles around her.
Man I whish I lived in Australia. TV Week is really expensive for us in Sweden if we are going to order it from there. So anyone who reads this Kate article, please tell us about it. It would be fun to see what it says.
EDIT: Written by Khalia
Thank you so much!!
The tv week article asks Kate about the rumours around Nova are true and she says its not so is just "water off a ducks back' and that the fued between merrick, rosso and herself is rubbish. Also that she is not worrying about the gossip to much and that she is happy doing radio.
There is also a question about her on the recent cover of New Idea about her wanting her old life back and that sometimes she looks at the stories and doesn't even see herself. That if she hangs on to what she knows is tru then it doesn't matter what everyone else says. Also that her old life was amazing and she wouldn't try to recreate it as it wouldn't be the same.
Also there are a few questions about Young Doctors and at this stage she doesn;t have her eye on anymore acting jobs as has work cut out for her at nova. She says Australian Story is a chance to record something that is nice for the viewers and herself.
